Medical Laboratory (MLT)
Program Goals
This program is committed to:

Provide each student with an educational experience that will allow him/her to acquire the basic competencies necessary to function in any clinical laboratory setting with a standard period of orientation

Provide guided experience that stimulates the student's intellectual growth.

Provide and environment that promotes professional growth and development.
The Medical Laboratory program is designed to prepare students to function as members of the clinical laboratory health care team.
Students study:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Microbiology
- Biochemistry
- Other science-related coursework
Students learn:
- To perform routine laboratory testing such as identification of microorganisms
- Chemical analysis of patient specimens
- Identification of blood cells
- And the cross matching of blood for transfusion
The program includes student-learning experiences both on campus and in the clinical laboratory. These educational experiences allow students to acquire the basic entry-level competencies necessary to function in a laboratory setting.
