On Friday, May 23, U.S. Representative Zack Space issued commendations to Gene MacDonald, Zane State College board member, and Dr. Paul Brown, Zane State College president.

Mr. MacDonald was commended for his 30 years of work with the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association and as a board member of the Muskingum Area Technical College and now Zane State College.

He also worked as the Zanesville Industrial Program Executive for 14 years and served as director of Planning and Physician Recruitment at Bethesda Hospital/Genesis Health Care System for 21 years.

Dr. Brown, was commended on behalf of the College for achieving the distinction of being named the #9 two-year college in the nation, as reported by Washington Monthly Magazine.

This ranking is based on Zane State College’s graduation rates-which are approaching three times the national average-and on student feedback as collected in the Community College Survey of Student Engagement, or CCSSE. The survey measures how well two-year colleges are using teaching techniques that lead to better learning.
